We have two classes at Fordwych Nursery. Our two to three year olds come on; Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, or Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. All afternoon sessions are 12.30pm – 3pm. Their teachers are Jackie Jones, Anna Sindlernova, Nicole Harrison, Sarah Turton and Laura Clark. Our staff to children ratio is a minimum of 1:4 for these children.

Our three to five year olds come every morning (Monday-Friday) from 9am to 12pm. Their teachers are Lynne Clark, Lizzie Petrie, Anna Sindlernova, Nicole Harrison, Jackie Jones and Sarah Turton. Our staff to children ratio is a minimum 1:6 or 1:7 for the older children.

We also have 12 places for three to five year olds to stay until 3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, or Tuesday and Thursday, or every day Monday to Friday. These children will need to bring a packed lunch to Nursery.

In order to maintain continuity of care, your child will belong to a key group that has consistent staff. A member of that staff will be allocated as your child’s key person and will be mainly responsible for his/her daily well-being and will ensure information about him/her is exchanged with you.

Although children remain mostly in their groups, they are encouraged to move between groups during the day so as to provide a richer learning experience.

In addition to the classroom activities we have teachers who specialise in the teaching of art, computers, music and dance & drama.

The first two weeks of term are a settling-in period for new children. We adapt this to each child, starting with just an hour per session for the first week and building up to a full session as soon as the child is ready. After the second week of term morning parents are welcomed into the classroom on Monday and Friday mornings and are requested to leave the children with the staff member at the door on the other days.

Attendance

Please make sure that your child arrives by 9.15am for morning sessions or by 12.45pm for afternoon sessions so that they can fully enjoy their Nursery time. Please let us know if you are going to be late or absent. The doors will be locked at 9.30am and 1.00pm and late arrivals will not be admitted unless prior notification has been received (for doctor’s appointments etc). Your child’s Nursery place may be lost if it is not used on a regular basis.
